about the heart foundation
This year marks the Heart Foundation’s 50th anniversary as Australia’s leading voice on heart health. Since its establishment in 1959, the Heart Foundation has helped achieve significant heart health advancements, such as the introduction of pacemakers, lobbying Telstra to establish the emergency triple zero number, introducing intensive coronary care units in hospitals, new treatments for lowering blood cholesterol and high blood pressure and pioneering healthier food choices through the Tick program.
The Heart Foundation is dedicated to reducing the dreadful effects of the number of people living with, or dying from, heart, stroke and blood vessel disease.
We have funded world-class cardiovascular research, supported health professionals in their practice, developed health promotion activities, informed and educated the public, and assisted people with cardiovascular disease. Today, the life expectancy of Australians is about 10 years longer for men and nine years longer for women.
With your support, we aim to continue our ground-breaking work into the future, providing Australians with the very best heart health information and funds for cutting edge research.
