Some frequently asked questions about HeartSwim:

Q: Where is HeartSwim Held?
A: VenuesWest – Challenge Stadium, Stephenson Avenue, Mt Claremont, WA 6010. Click here to view website

Q: When is HeartSwim?
A: Saturday 7 November 2009, from 1pm – 4.30pm.

Q: Who can enter?
A: Any proficient swimmers! Get together with your workmates, friends, family, community group or sporting team and form a team of five swimmers. Think about who you know who has been affected by heart disease and support their cause.

Q: What is the start time?
A: Registration will be from 1.00pm on Saturday, 7 November (the day of the event). The Team Captain is to collect the team pack before 1.30pm on the day from the registration area

1.00pm Registration
2.00pm – 3.30pm Team Swim
3.30pm – 4.30pm Free BBQ & Presentations

Q: What is the closing date?
A: Online registration closes 5pm Sunday 1, November 2009.

Q: How many swimmers are required per team?
A: Each team will be required to have five team members swimming on a rotation basis (team may choose timings) for a period of 90 minutes.  A non-swimmer can record laps and coordinate the team if necessary.

Q: How much does it cost to enter a team?
A:The registration fee is $100 per team and includes pool entry, a HeartSwim swim cap, (supplied to team captain) and light refreshments following the event.

Q: Where do I register my team?
A: Registration is available online at Register Now. Click here to register. 

Q: What is my team’s fundraising goal?
A: Each team is encouraged to achieve a fundraising goal of $1000 or more.  This money will go directly to the Heart Foundation.  We have set a link on My Cause where you will be able to invite family, friends and work colleagues to sponsor you and leave a message of encouragement. Q: How do I register my interest as an event sponsor or to donate prizes?
A: Financial and product sponsorship support is crucial to enable the running of HeartSwim. Please register your interest by emailing your name, contact number and email address to info@heartswim.com.au. We will contact you to discuss the sponsorship opportunities. Please also refer to our Sponsor page for a Sponsorship Opportunities Presentation. All financial and product sponsors are greatly appreciated.

Q: What is in my team pack?
A: Your team pack will include the event program and five team swimming caps. All team members will also receive a Rival Swimwear discount voucher.

Q: Is the event BYO food and drinks?
A: HeartSwim is strictly no BYO food or beverages. As well as provision of food voucher in team participant pack on-site catering has been arranged to ensure you will be able to purchase a selection of gourmet food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Q: What are the conditions of entry?
A: Health Warning and Conditions of Entry

HEALTH WARNING
People who are not physically fit or who do not regularly exercise may be at risk of damage to their health if they undertake strenuous exercise. Any person in this category should not enter this event unless they have first obtained medical advice from relevant medical professionals.

PRIVACY
Masters Swimming WA respects your privacy and has embraced the National Privacy Principles. We only use the information you provide upon registration for the purposes of event participation and providing you with information regarding this event.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

HeartSwim is open to any proficient swimmer. Each team member entering this event does so at their own risk in all respects.  Each team member is aware that it is their obligation to ensure that they are physically fit and physically able to enter this event.  Participants grant full permission for Masters Swimming WA to use photographs of individuals in this team and quotations from individuals in this team in legitimate accounts and promotions of this event.

Q: What are the Cardiovascular Disease Statistics?
A: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the term used for heart, stroke and blood vessel diseases. It is the leading cause of death in Australia, accounting for 34% of all deaths in Australia in 2006. Cardiovascular disease kills one Australian nearly every 10 minutes.  Cardiovascular disease is one of Australia's largest health problems. Despite improvements over the last few decades, it remains one of the biggest burdens on our economy.
